OPITO Assessment

OPITO Assessment course provided by Maersk Training at ESVAGT BETA or ESVAGT CrewCentre assesses crew holding the following OPITO certificates:

ITSO
FRC Boatman
FRC Coxswain
DC Coxswain
Command and Control (C&C)

*If a holder of a DC Coxswain certificate is on board a vessel with no DC, please make sure to arrange that the person can do the practical exercises before assessment.
A holder of FRC Coxswain shall also refresh FRC Boatman.
A holder of DC Coxswain shall also refresh FRC Coxswain.*

PREPARATION

In order to participate in OPITO Assessment it is required that you have 2 theory completions and 2 practical completions in the proceeding three years(counting from the assessment date)

It will soon be possible to check your status in the Maersk Training Portal.

stcw refresher

STCW combined refresher course at MAERSK Training Esbjerg or RelyOn Nutec refreshes the following certificates:

STCW A-VI/1-1 – Personal Survival Techniques
STCW A-VI/1-2 – Fire Prevention and Fire-fighting
STCW A-VI/3 – Advanced Fire-fighting
STCW A-VI/2-1 – Survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
STCW A-VI/2-2 – Fast Rescue Boats

For cooks not holding STCW A-VI-1-2 must complete STCW limited refresher course.

sMST

SMST courses are provided and conducted by SMST and are held in Drachten, the Netherlands at SMST’s Headquarter, or at ESVAGT’S Headquarter in Esbjerg.

The courses are conducted for personnel who are required to operate the SMST gangway on the following vessels: ‘Esvagt Alba’, ‘Esvagt Dana’, ‘Esvagt Havelok’, ‘Esvagt Innovator’, ‘Esvagt Schelde’, ‘Esvagt Albert Betz’, ‘Esvagt Froude’ NB 1094 and NB 1097.

Please review the available courses and identify the course you are eligible to attend.
Once you have selected the relevant course, please send an email confirming which course and which date you wish to attend.
Course requests should be sent to training@esvagt.com.

Please note that all courses may be cancelled up to two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled course date.

tab operator

New SMST gangway operators are required to attend:
– Theoretical Attendance Only (TOT)
This is a two-day course in Drachten.

After completing the theoretical course, you must carry out a series of practical exercises onboard the vessel.
A period of twelve (12) months is allowed to complete all required practical exercises (see attached PDF). ???
It is strongly recommended that the practical training is completed as soon as possible, in order to utilize the operator’s competencies onboard.

A COC refresher course is a one‑day course intended to renew your Certificate of Competence (COC).
Upon completion, the refreshed COC is valid for two (2) years from the date of issue.

Advanced tab operator

Operators holding a valid Certificate of Competence (COC) are required to renew their certification before expiry by upgrading to an Advanced Level certificate, provided that they meet the eligibility requirements for the Advanced Level. It Is a two-days course.

To be eligible for the Advanced Level certification, the operator must meet the following requirements:

A minimum of 100 documented gangway connections, and
At least one (1) year of operational experience with the gangway.

If the requirements for the Advanced Level certification cannot be met, the COC must instead be renewed by attending a one‑day refresher course. Look for COC refresher.

When an Advanced Level certificate is approaching expiry, the operator is required to attend an Advanced Level refresher course. It’s a one-day course.

The Advanced Level refresher is a one‑day course and requires the operator:

Holds a valid Advanced Level certificate, and
Has a minimum of two (2) years of operational experience with the gangway.
